Both doors are Meranti Cricket Bat Four-Panel Colonial, 820 x 2040 x 40mm. The colonial profile suits a community building — it reads as considered and appropriate without being flashy. Meranti gives you a stable, paintable timber that holds up in a public-facing application.
Pull handles are stainless steel, sized and positioned to meet accessible design requirements. Large grip, easy to operate with limited hand strength. The door closers are dampened commercial units on both doors — they control the close speed so doors don’t slam or blow open in wind, which matters when the entry is in frequent use by members of the public. A mushroom stop between the doors plugs the central meeting gap, which removes any pry vulnerability and stops draughts from rattling through the building.
Concealed drop seals activate on close, dropping against the threshold to seal weather and sound. Before we started, we coordinated with the facility’s security contractor to ensure the new doors integrated correctly with the electronic access control system already in place. Our front door replacement work on commercial and community buildings always includes access control coordination — locking hardware and access systems have to work together from day one.
