What’s Included
Supply and Installation
Every door replacement from Doors Replaced is a complete service. You’re not buying a door and hiring someone separately to hang it.
- New door, specified and supplied to suit your opening
- Trimming and fitting to the existing frame
- Hinges (standard 3-hinge setup, upgrades available)
- Alignment and adjustment for smooth operation
- Weathersealing around the door and frame
- Testing: open, close, latch, lock, deadbolt
- Cleanup and removal of your old door
- Hardware installation (if purchased through us)
You get a finished, working door. Not a box on your doorstep.
Variables
What Affects the Price
Door replacement isn’t one-size-fits-all. A sheltered side entry costs less than a full entrance transformation on a north-facing facade. Here’s what moves the price up or down.
Door Type
A like-for-like front door replacement sits at a different price point to an entrance transformation with sidelights and structural changes. Laundry doors, garage access doors, and rear doors are generally simpler jobs. Fire-rated doors carry a higher material cost because of the compliance requirements built into the door itself.
Door Size
Standard openings (820mm wide, 2040mm tall) keep costs lower because the door comes in a stock size or close to it. Oversized, extra-tall, or non-standard widths mean a custom-manufactured door. That adds to the price, and the lead time.
Frame Condition
If your existing frame is solid and square, we fit the new door straight into it. If the frame is rotted, warped, or out of plumb, it needs replacement before the new door goes in. Frame work is the most common reason a job costs more than the base price. We assess frame condition from the photos you send through with your quote request.
Structural Work
Widening a doorway, adding a lintel, or modifying the wall to accommodate a different door style all require structural changes. Entrance transformations and pivot door installations often involve this kind of work. It’s priced into the project quote, not added as a surprise.
Door Style and Material
Timber panel, Colorbond® (StormBloc™), glass inserts, sidelights, custom paint finishes. Each option has a different material cost. A solid timber door with no glazing will cost less than a door with decorative glass panels and sidelight frames either side.
Access and Site Conditions
Upper floors, narrow side access, heritage overlay requirements, or body corporate approvals can all affect scope. Most jobs are ground-floor front entries with straightforward access, so this doesn’t come up often. But when it does, we factor it into the quote.
Hardware
Hardware Pricing
Hardware is additional to the door replacement price unless we note otherwise in your quote.
- Zanda Zenith lever set + deadbolt – $93.50 inc GST
- Hinges – $13.20 inc GST each (standard 3-hinge setup = $39.60 inc GST)
- Upgraded hardware options can be discussed during your quote.
We supply Zanda hardware as standard. It’s solid, it looks good, and the warranty is straightforward. If you have specific hardware you want to use, we can usually work with that too.
Long-Term Value
Why StormBloc™ Costs More
A StormBloc™ engineered door starts from $2,200 inc GST supplied and installed. That’s more than a standard timber replacement at $1,350 inc GST.
But here’s the maths on a standard timber door in an exposed position. Melbourne weather will force you to repaint it every 3–4 years. Budget $300–$500 per repaint. Over 15 years, that’s $900–$2,500 just in maintenance. And if the door rots out in that time, you’re buying a replacement on top of it.
StormBloc™ has Colorbond steel skins. No repainting, ever. The RotGuard™ treated pine perimeter stops rot at the bottom edge, which is where every timber door in Melbourne fails first. The door costs more on day one. After that, you spend nothing on it.
For doors that are sheltered under a deep porch or verandah, a standard timber door is fine. For anything that cops direct sun, rain, or both, StormBloc™ pays for itself within a few years and keeps saving after that.
