The Problem
Why External Doors Fail
Every external door in Melbourne is fighting the same battle, and most of them are losing it at the bottom edge.
Moisture Wicking
Rain hits the door, runs down, and pools at the base. The bottom edge is end grain. Cut across the fibres. End grain absorbs moisture faster than face grain. Even painted doors wick water upward into the core.
UV Damage
Sun on one face, shade on the other. The door expands unevenly. That’s what causes warping, jamming, and gaps around seals. Melbourne’s UV breaks down most paint finishes within two to three years.
The Repaint Cycle
The door needs repainting every three to four years. Most homeowners don’t get to it until damage is visible. By then, moisture has already entered through cracks in the finish.
Core Failure
MDF and hollow-core doors absorb water like a sponge. Solid timber lasts longer but still rots at the bottom edge. The fundamental problem is the same. Moisture enters through end grain.
Proprietary Technology
RotGuard™: Decay Stops Here.
The bottom edge is where doors die. RotGuard™ addresses that failure point directly. Treated pine perimeter press-bonded to all four sides of the door. Not just top and bottom, all four edges.
The critical detail: the bottom edge of a RotGuard™ door can remain unpainted and still resist moisture. Traditional doors need paint on the bottom edge as their only defence, and that paint breaks down within a few years. RotGuard™ eliminates the dependency on paint as a moisture barrier.

Construction
Built Different. On Purpose.
Every layer of a StormBloc door serves a specific engineering function.
Colorbond 0.7mm Steel on Both Faces
Factory-finished by BlueScope Steel. UV-stable colour that doesn’t fade, peel, or chalk. The same material on roofing and fencing across Australia. Neither side ever needs painting.
RotGuard™ Treated Pine Perimeter
All four edges wrapped in treated pine. Resistant to decay, moisture wicking, and fungal attack. The bottom edge can remain unpainted. Press-bonded to the core.
Engineered Composite Core
Cross-laminated layers hold the door flat through Melbourne’s temperature swings. The engineered composite core resists the expansion and contraction cycles that warp solid timber doors.
Press-Bonded Construction
Steel skins bonded to the engineered composite core under pressure. No air gaps. No delamination over time. The door behaves as a single structural unit.

Where It Goes
Every External Door. One Solution.
StormBloc™ is the default recommendation for any external door that faces weather without adequate protection.
Laundry Door
Moisture from both sides. Steam inside, rain outside. The worst position in the house for a timber door.
Garage Access Door
Damp, poorly ventilated. The bottom edge sits on a concrete slab that wicks moisture constantly.
Rear Door
South-facing rears cop Melbourne’s worst weather. No awning, no porch, no protection.
Side Door
Narrow passages between houses where moisture sits and airflow is poor. These doors rot faster than any other.
